Happy New Year!

It was nice to have few days off after Christmas. My time was spent working on a huge oil painting, running to the art store to buy lino to make prints and then over to the craft store for wool to make a scarf.  I realize I am a bit of a "scanner" when it comes to creating art. I love to trying new things, and sometimes have trouble finishing projects:).

The above acrylic painting was started and finished today..

Coast Collective Show

Still experimenting with oils, I used a palette knife to create texture in this painting, it has a different look because it's painted on board instead of canvas. I find the surfaces I paint on have a definite say on the outcome of my work.

It is included in the Coast Collective show, the opening is Saturday July 10th from 2-4. The show runs from today until the 18th.

Shades of Italy

I have great admiration for artists who paint abstracts.

While finding my around the process of painting oils, I began to push the paint into shapes and textures hoping to create some sense of balance.
When finished the painting had a familiarity about it but it took a couple of months before I realized that it reminded me of the colours and textures of Italy.

Back to Painting - First Oil Painting

I went and splurged on oil paints yesterday and did a quick study of my son playing with my daughter's dog "Brutis"

It’s something that I have been wanting to do for awhile, but I’m also finding it a little more challenging than acrylics, so any tips or advice would be welcome.
